Requirements to the entry on direction of preparation the

«Choreography»


Creative competition on choreography consists of three stages:

  1. classical dance lesson;

  2. folk-stage dance lesson;

  3. basics of composition (individual choreographic etude).



Stage I

CLASSICAL DANCE LESSON

exercises on choreographic bar

  1. Bending forward

  2. Torso bending

Musical time – 3/4.

Performed with 32 times to music introduction.

Initial stance – facing to choreographic bar, I position of feet.

1-16 times – bending of the torso backwards (4 times),

head is turning to right shoulder and left shoulder alternatively.

17-32 times – bending of the torso to the right and to the left alternatively (4 times).

  1. Demi та grand plie´.

Musical time – 3/4.

Performed with 32 times to music.

Initial stance – left side is facing choreographic bar, I position of feet, left arm is on choreographic bar and right is in preparatory position.

To introduction – right arm is moving through I position to II.

1-4 times – 2 demi plie´ on І position, arm is closing to І position.

5-8 times – grand plie´ on І position, arm is closing to preparatory position. Changing position of feet to II position.

9-12 times – 2 demi plie´ on ІI position, arm is closing to І position.

13-16 times – grand plie´ on ІI position, arm is closing to preparatory position. Changing position of feet to V, right foot is ahead of left.

17-20 times – 2 demi plie´ on V position, arm is closing to І position.

21-24 times – grand plie´ on V position, arm is closing to preparatory position. Changing position of feet to V, right foot is behind left.

25-28 times – movements of 17-20 times are repeated.

29-32 times – movements of 21-24 times are repeated.

In the same manner exercise is performed starting from left foot.



  1. Battement tendu.

Musical time – 2/4. Performed with 16 times to music introduction. Initial stance – left side is facing choreographic bar, V position of feet, left arm is on choreographic bar, right is in preparatory position.

To introduction – arm is moving through I position to ІІ.

1-4 times – 4 battement tendu forwards.

5-8 times – 4 battement tendu backwards.

9-16 times – 4 battement tendu with pressure to the side.

Starting from left foot the exercise is performed in the same manner.

  1. Battement tendu jete´ з pique´.

Musical time – 2/4. Performed with 16 times to music introduction. Initial stance – V position of feet, left arm is on choreographic bar, right is in preparatory position.

To introduction – arm is moving through I position to II.

1-2 times – 2 battement tendu jete´ forwards.

3-4 times – 3 pique´ forwards, at the last fraction of time foot is closing to preparatory position.

5-6 times – 2 battement tendu jete´ to the side.

7-8 times – 3 pique´ to the side, at the last fraction of time foot is closing to preparatory position.

9-10 times – 2 battement tendu jete´ backwards.

11-12 times – 3 pique´ backwards, at the last fraction of time foot is closing to preparatory position.

13-14 times – movements of 5-6 times are repeated.

15-16 times – movements of 7-8 times are repeated.

Starting from left foot the exercise is performed in the same manner.

  1. Rond de jambe par terre en dehors et en dedans.

Musical time – 3/4.

Performed with 32 times to music introduction.

Initial stance – І position of feet, left arm is on choreographic bar, right is in preparatory position.

To introduction – preparation.

1-4 times – 2 rond de jambe par terre en dehors, supporting foot is on plie´.

5-8 times – 4 rond de jambe par terre en dehors, supporting foot is straight.

9-12 times – stretching on right foot backwards with port de bras.

13-16 times – returning to initial stance after preparation.

17-20 times – 2 rond de jambe par terre en dedans, supporting foot is on plie´.

21-24 times – 4 rond de jambe par terre en dedans, supporting foot is straight.

25-28 times – stretching on right foot forwards with port de bras.

29-32 times – returning to initial stance after preparation.

Starting from left foot the exercise is performed in the same manner.



  1. Battement fondu.

Musical time – 3/4.

Performed with 32 times to music introduction.

Initial stance – V position of feet, left arm is on choreographic bar, right is in preparatory position.

To introduction – arm is moving through І position to ІІ, right foot is opening on tendu to the side.

1-16 times – 4 battement fondu in x-shaped manner one by one (forwards-to the side-backwards-to the side) two times, working foot is opening through 45º.

17-32 times – 4 battement fondu in x-shaped manner one by one (forwards-to the side-backwards-to the side) two times, working foot is opening through 90º.

Starting from left foot the exercise is performed in the same manner.

  1. Battement frappe´.

Musical time – 2/4.

Performed with 16 times to music introduction.

Initial stance – V position of feet, left arm is on choreographic bar, right is in preparatory position.

To introduction – arm is moving through І position to ІІ, right foot is opening on tendu to the side.

1-16 times – 4 battement frappe´ in x-shaped manner one by one (forwards-to the side-backwards-to the side) two times with the fixed position of the working foot on sur le cou-de-pied.

Starting from left foot the exercise is performed in the same manner.

  1. Releve´ lans.

Musical time – 3/4. Performed with 32 times to music introduction. Initial stance – V position of feet, left arm is on choreographic bar, right is in preparatory position.

To introduction – arm is moving through І position to ІІ.

1-8 times – right foot, going through position battement tendu forwards, is lifted in the air through 90º, is lingered and returning through battement tendu into initial stance.

9-16 times – movements of 1-8 times are repeated to the side.

17-24 times – movements of 1-8 times are repeated backwards.

25-32 times – movements of 1-8 times are repeated в сторону.

Starting from left foot the exercise is performed in the same manner.

  1. Grand battement.

Musical time – 2/4.

Performed with 16 times to music introduction.

Initial stance – V position of feet, left arm is on choreographic bar, right is in preparatory position.

To introduction – arm is going through І position to ІІ.

1-8 times – 4 grand battement forwards through tendu.

9-16 times – 4 grand battement to the side through tendu.

17-24 times – 4 grand battement backwards through tendu.

25-32 times – 4 grand battement to the side through tendu.

Starting from left foot the exercise is performed in the same manner.


Exercises in the middle of the gym

Elements of adagio group

  1. Port de bras.

Musical time – 3/4.

Performed with 32 times to music introduction.

Initial stance – V position of feet, arms are in preparatory position.

  1. Аrabesque.

Musical time – 4/4.

Performed with 32 times to music introduction.

Initial stance – facing 2 point of the dancing gym (diagonally to the right), V position of feet, arms are in preparatory position.

1-8 times – first аrabesque.

9-16 times – second аrabesque.

17-24 times – third аrabesque.

25-32 times – fourth аrabesque.

  1. Temps lie´.

Musical time – 4/4.

Performed with 16 times to music introduction.

Initial stance – facing 8 point of the dancing gym (diagonally to the left), V position of feet, arms are in preparatory position.


Elements of allegro group



  1. Тemps saute´.

Musical time – 2/4.

Performed with 16 times to music introduction.

Initial stance – І position of feet, arms are in preparatory position.

1-8 times – 8 saute´ on І position, arms are in preparatory position.

9-16 times – 8 saute´ on ІІ position, arms are opening into ІІ position.

17-24 times – 8 saute´ on V position (right foot is ahead of left), arms are in preparatory position.

25-32 times – 8 saute´ on V position (left foot is ahead of right), arms are in preparatory position.

  1. Pas echappe´.

Musical time – 2/4.

Performed with 16 times to music introduction.

Initial stance – V position of foot, arms are in preparatory position.


Stage ІІ

^ FOLK-STAGE DANCE LESSON

Exercises with choreographic bar

  1. Semi-squatting and squatting (demi та grand plie´).

Musical time – 3/4.

Performed with 32 times to music introduction. Initial stance – І position of feet, left arm is on choreographic bar, right arm is in preparatory position.

To introduction – right arm is going through І position to ІІ.

1-2 times – demi plie´ on І position, arm is closing at waist.

3-4 times – 2 sharp demi plie´ on І position, arm is opening through І to ІІ position.

5-8 times – grand plie´ on І position, arm is closing to preparatory position.

9-12 times – movements of 5-8 times are repeated.

13-16 times – port de bras backwards, to the last fraction of 16th – changing position of feet to II position.

17-32 times– movements of 1-16 times are repeated on II position.

33-48 times– movements of 1-16 times are repeated on IV position.

49-64 times– movements of 1-16 times are repeated on V position.

Starting from left foot the exercise is performed in the same manner.



  1. Battement tendu.

Musical time – 2/4.

Performed with 16 times to music introduction.

Initial stance – V position of feet, left arm is on choreographic bar, right arm is in preparatory position.

To introduction – arm is opening through І position to ІІ and is closing at waist.

1-4 times – 4 battement tendu №1 in x-shaped manner one by one (forwards-to the side-backwards-to the side).


5-8 times – 4 battement tendu №1 in x-shaped manner one by one with shortening of foot of supporting foot.

9-12 times – 4 battement tendu № 3 in x-shaped manner one by one.

13-14 times – «kolupalochka with wyhilasom» starting from right foot.

15-16 times – turning to choreographic bar through soutenu.

Starting from left foot the exercise is performed in the same manner.

  1. Battement tendu jete´.

Musical time – 2/4.

Performed with 16 times to music introduction.

Initial stance – V position of feet, left arm is on choreographic bar, right arm is in preparatory position.

To introduction – arm is opening through І position to ІІ and closing at waist.

1-8 такти – 4 battement tendu jete´ in x-shaped manner one by one (forwards-to the side-backwards-to the side) with the fixed position through battement tendu.

9-12 times – 4 battement tendu jete´ in x-shaped manner one by one.

13-15 times – 3 releve´ on V position.

16 time – turning to choreographic bar through soutenu.

Starting from left foot the exercise is performed in the same manner.



  1. Rond de jambe par terre.

Musical time – 4/4.

Performed with 4 times to music introduction.

Initial stance – І position of feet, left arm is on choreographic bar, right arm is in preparatory position.

To introduction – preparation.

1st time –characteristic rond de jambe par terre is performed (working leg is delivered on battement tendu with the outer edge of the foot circling the foot of the supporting leg in the direction of choreographic bar croise) after that the tip of the foot is dragged on the floor to the side and working leg is closed in the position of sur le cou-de-pied behind the supporting leg.

2nd time – movement of the 2nd time is repeated but the working leg is delivered on battement tendu backwards.

3d time – "visimka" is performed two times (turning the knee to the left, the right leg is moved along the foot of the left leg with the whole foot to a choreographic bar then the right foot is placed into V position behind the left leg, the outer edge of the foot is outlining a semi-circle and the right foot is placed with heel directed to movement on battement tendu on tiptoe to the side). The working leg is closed into sur le cou-de-pied position behind at the last fraction of time.

4th time – at the first three fractions of time 3 releve´ is performed on the left foot, the right foot is in the sur le cou-de-pied position behind. The right foot is going down to V position behind the left foot at the last fraction of time.

Starting from left foot the exercise is performed in the same manner.



  1. Battement fondu.

Musical time – 3/4.

Performed with 16 times to music introduction.

Initial stance – V position of feet, left arm is on choreographic bar, права right arm is in preparatory position.

To introduction – right arm is going through І position to ІІ, right foot – on tendu to the side.

1-8 times – 4 (classical) battement fondu in x-shaped manner one by one with stretching the foot into the air through 45º.

9-16 times – 2 (characteristic) battement fondu.

Starting from left foot the exercise is performed in the same manner.

  1. Flic-flac.

Musical time – 4/4.

Performed with 8 times to music introduction.

Initial stance – V position of feet, left arm is on choreographic bar, right arm is in preparatory position.

To introduction – right arm is going through І position to ІІ and is being closed at waisthi, right foot – on tendu to the side.

1st time – at the first two fractions of time the right foot making a short movement on the floor with tiptoe with a shortened foot is closed on sur le cou-de-pied ahead of the left foot; at the other two fractions of time the working leg is placed to the side through 30º making a stressed movement on the floor with a heel.

2-4 times – movements of the 1st time are repeated, alternatively the foot is closed into sur le cou-de-pied position behind at the front and at the back of a supporting foot.

5-7 times – movements of the 1st time are repeated 6 times (two times faster) with the stressed stepping with the heel of supporting foot at each count "i".

8 time – Russian «key».

Starting from left foot the exercise is performed in the same manner.



  1. Preparation for "veriovochka".

Musical time – 2/4.

Performed with 16 times to music introduction.

Initial stance – V position of feet, left arm is on choreographic bar, right arm is in preparatory position.

To introduction – arm is opened through І position to ІІ and is closed at the waist.

1 time – the stretched foot of right leg is lifted to the knee of the left leg, the knee of right foot – to the side.

2 time – the right foot is closed to V position behind the left leg.

3-4 times – movements of 1-2 times are repeated however the right foot is stopped in initial stance.

5 time – movements of the 1st time are repeated.

6 time – the knee of the right foot is placed forwards.

7 time – the knee of the right foot is placed to the side.

8 time – the right foot is closed into initial stance.

9-10 times – movements of 1-2 times are repeated with the stressed stepping of the heel of supporting (left) foot at the last fraction of the 10th time.

11 time – movements of the 1st time are repeated, however starting from left foot.

12 time – movements of the 2d time are repeated, however starting from the left foot with the stressed doubled stepping with the foot of supporting (right) leg at the last fraction of the time.

13-16 times – "veriovochka" is performed 8 times starting from right foot.

Starting from left foot the exercise is performed in the same manner.



  1. Battement developpe´.

Musical time – 4/4.

Performed with 8 times to music introduction.

Initial stance – V position of feet, left arm is on choreographic bar, right arm is in preparatory position.

To introduction – right arm is going through I position to II and is closed at waist.

1st time – battement developpe´ forwards.

2d time – move foot to tire-bouchon, linger for a while and close into initial stance at the last fraction of time.

3d time – battement developpe´ to the side.

4th time – move foot on attitude, linger for a while and close into V position behind left foot at the last fraction of time.

5th time – battement developpe´ backwards.

6th time – repeat movements of the 6th time.

7th time – repeat movements of the 3d time.

8th time – repeat movements of the 4th time and close right foot into initial stance.

Starting from left foot the exercise is performed in the same manner.


Exercises in the middle of the gym


Applicants perform basic elements of Ukrainian folk dance:

  • «bigunets»

  • «tynky»

  • «dorizhky»

  • «veriovochky»

  • «kolupalochky»

  • «golubtsi»

  • squatting

  • swirlings

Stage III

The basics of composition

Applicants are shown a prepared unique choreographic piece in advance (folk, classical, modern or ballet choreography).

Requirements for a choreographic piece:

  • existence of creative idea;

  • uniqueness of performance;

  • creation of flexible artistic image;

  • skill of performing.
