Architecture Aspects of Developing a System of Data Collecting and Analysis “Ministry-Institute of Higher Education”

The article deals with architecture and principles of building the system of data collecting and analysis "Ministry-University". The author discusses questions concerning universal architecture solutions for corporate systems of this level.
The problem of building of an effective control system at all stages and levels is actual nowadays. The avalanche dataflow and necessity of its operative processing have determined the expediency of automation of managerial processes. Many big enterprises are already following the way of automation of the managerial processes. However, interrelations between the administrative organizations of the top level and the enterprises are still insufficient.
In our job we examine interrelations between high schools and the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine.
The purpose of the given project is to create an informational and analytical system of scheduled - finance administration of the Ministry including an opportunity of the exchange of the structured data between the ministry administration and high schools on the basis of modern information technologies and telecommunications. The primary goals of the project are as follows:
To realize the project, mostly suitable architectural principles have been offered.
The system consists of two parts - ministerial (the Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine) and that of high schools. The ministerial part is a corporate three-level system. The high school part is a small client application based on .Net Framework without a separate database. The information is stored using means of the file system. It is necessary to discuss separately the transport system connecting these two levels.
When choosing models of architecture, the preference has been given to the three-level architecture of corporate information systems as to most effective and widely used on the present moment. Thus, the given system will consist of a database, business - logic and a client part.
The business - logic level consists of separate components, classified according to categories "purpose - functionality". Functionally all components are divided into three groups.
In the given system the combined model of data storage is used. Basic unit of storage of the information is the entity. The set of attributes is adhered to each entity. Except the basic tables describing the contents of the entity, there are auxiliary system tables. Security objects organizing access to separate types of entities also belong to the strictly structured data. Auxiliary tables also allow to set access servers for the certain types of documents. The base structure of data storage remains constant notwithstanding any changes made to the types of stored objects. MS SQL 2000 is used as database storage.
The given decision is one of realizations of a problem of construction of a system of interaction between high schools and the ministry. Authors do not apply for exclusiveness of the given approach. However it allows providing all necessary conditions of functioning of similar systems. The architectural principles used by the authors in other systems of a corporate level served as a basis of a server part of the system, and the expediency of their use proves the efficiency of these methods.
